7-3 Veggie Rule

kealeemcg

This is my easiest tip to get in as many veggies in a day as possible!

I love eating my vegetables, but I always find it difficult to eat as many as you are supposed to.

I have a pretty simple taste, and do not venture far out of my comfort zone. With this simple mindset I have been able to add in more veggies than I would usually eat and also use up my veggies before they go bad (which is a huuuuuge bonus!)

So, this 7-3 rule is pretty straight forward.

7 different vegetables a day

3 different colours

7 different types of vegetables may sound intimidating at first, but I like to stick with a few go-to veggies, and add some different ones in on rotation every few days.

Some of my go to vegetables are:

- lettuce

- cucumber

- green pepper

- arugula

- carrot

- celery

- brussel sprouts

- broccoli

- tomato

- red onion

Some of the vegetables I have on rotation include:

- corn

- cauliflower

- radish

- cabbage

- zucchini

- eggplant

- mushroom

3 different colours has been a huge game changer when trying to incorporate more vegetables into my daily meals. I find that I tend to gravitate towards green vegetables, half of the veggies I listed already are green. Adding in a variety of colours has allowed me to branch out. I still eat the same greens as I normally would, now I just have extras!

The easiest 2 colourful veggies I add on a daily basis are:

- tomatoes

- red onion

These 2 veggies I add into almost any dish I make!

- salads

- pasta

- soup/ stew

- sandwich

Since implementing this 7-3 rule into my daily habits, I have noticed such a large difference in my energy levels and being more full for longer.

I still think that I do not eat as many vegetables as I should in a day. But I sure do eat more than I ever have before!
